I talked with Br. Neil last night and tonight to get some more specifics on what the house needs and would like to have.  Here's what we have so far.

  • Reliability is the highest priority.  After that, they want something that's easy to use and configure.
  • Voice mail sent out as an email attachment is preferred.  Individual voice mail would be a nice to have, but it isn't critical.
  • A menu driven system that made it easy to ring all extensions, put employers in touch with graduating seniors, allow prospective members to leave a voice mail for the 1st VP, etc would be a professional touch that the actives would like to see.
  • Whatever is implemented should have good electronic documentation, preferably web based.
  • The network closet still isn't climate controlled. For now, anything we put in there or the laundry room will need to be at least as heat and humidity tolerant as the old pbx.
There was a concern mentioned earlier that most of the actives probably have cell phones and might not need or want a pbx.  Most of the actives do have cell phones, but the consensus is that they would use the phone system if it where available.
